Project Report (cont'd on second page):
Saved from a population of 20 plants. This is a pimento style pepper introduced by Johnny's in the early 1990's. They discontinued production in the last couple of years so I don't think it's commercially available now. I love this pepper. It's sweet, juicy and delicious when it has ripened to red, which it does reliably for me, even in the toughest years. It's a thick-walled 3-lobed pimento variety, pointed at the blossom end. Here's the description from the 2005 Johnny's catalog: "57 days green 77 days red ripe, Sweet Apple Taste! the taste is mild, juicy, and fruity. Peaks just as the mature fruits are turning to red. Compared to Lipstick, its 3-4" heart shaped fruits are rounder and heaver, the taste is juicier and milder, and it matures a few days later. Medium-sized plants yield well in diverse climates"

Stuart, I grew this pepper this year from your seed. I love it, too! It is delicious when it is red and ripe, but this evening we ate a green one that broke off when I was getting a red one. The green one was better than any green pepper, sweet and juicy with a lively flavor.
